'Ki' (気)- Copyright Manami Lingerfelt
In the past, I've painted a couple similar works called 'Origin' and 'Origin 1,' which convey the idea that "we are standing on where we are coming from and where we are going to" simultaneously. I've always wanted to revisit these images with oil paint and the addition of more intense depth. This is the result of that reunion, with the main principle of our existence as the source of energy that supports life. In Japanese, this concept is called "Ki," which means "source of energy." Through this painting, that very life force emanating from the earth is highlighted. Therefore, its title is 'Ki' (気)

Artist Bio Manami Yagashiro Lingerfelt was born in Japan and grew up in Tokyo, graduating from Tokyo Musashino Art College in 1985. Also she graduated School of Art and Design at Kennesaw States University, GA, U.S. 2015. She began her art career in Tokyo, Japan as a graphic designer and illustrator with major magazines and newspapers. However, she became increasingly displeased with her career and her life and decided to explore the world, dwelling briefly in places such as India, Nepal, Sweden and other parts of Asia and Europe from 1987-1997.
